Experiencing new places and feelings. Falling, but standing back up stronger. Re-shaping ourselves to become better humans. Making a positive impact, from our own tiny bubble to the entire world.
That's why we want to support those internationally who are making a difference in their own communities. We also believe in empowering women as they are ten times more likely to invest in their families and communities.
We partnered with Humanity Unified, an NGO dedicated to empowering women to rise out of poverty through education, food security programs and economic opportunities. After the 1994 Rwandan genocide, 70% of the country's population was female. An estimated 250,000-500,000 women were raped and many were infected with HIV. The female survivors of the genocide are tasked with rebuilding their country and are often the sole providers for their family.
Through Humanity's Unified Healing Gardens project we enable the women enrolled to earn a liveable income and provide food security for families. Women are creating organic gardens providing themselves with a source of income (from selling what they grow) and also a source of healing foods to eat and nourish their families. In addition to that they receive education in gardening, preventing malnutrition, cooking healthy meals while also attaining business insights on how to sell into local markets.
